This week’s question:
What are your favourite books that defied your expectations/reservations?
Wings by Aprilynne Pike. I had read only negative reviews, but I ended up enjoying it a lot. I am looking forward to reading the final book in the quadrilogy.
Elixir by Hilary Duff. I go into every book hoping for a five star read. Expecting anything less is a waste of my incredibly valuable time. Elixir surprised me only because I didn’t expect Duff to be so eloquent. Of course she had the help of another writer, and I don’t know how much was ghost written, if the idea was simply Duff’s and the other wrote it, or what. I don’t really care. The second book is on my radar and I look forward to it.
Entwined by Heather Dixon. This books suffers from ‘pretty white girl in a prom dress’ syndrome. I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting into. A retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, which isn’t even my favourite fairytale. Instead I get a deep book full of fluff and sisterly shenanigans. Yes, you can have all three together. It’s my favourite book I’ve read this year, and I totally did not expect that.
