Top Ten Nine Authors That I’d Put On My Auto-Buy List

(basically an auto-buy list is no questions asked..you love this author so much that no matter what they wrote next you’d buy regardless of genre or subject matter)

1. Lauren DeStefano

2. Maria V Snyder

3. Cynthia Hand

4. Kristin Cashore

5. Alexandra Bracken

6. Beth Revis

7. Shirley Marr

8. Louise Cooper (deceased)

9. David Gemmell (deceased)

I only have nine. Don’t hate me! This list was especially difficult to write. I’m extraordinarily picky, and I take this question literally. If any of these guys wrote contemporary romance I’d read it. If they wrote a space opera I’d read it. If they wrote a Western I’d read it. I’m very picky about what I read but these nine are on my automatic to-buy list, and I am slowly making my way through acquiring everything. It’s expensive and time consuming, yo!

I know what you mean about Auto-Buy – it’s serious business! I thought long and hard, and actually see a couple authors on your list that probably should have made my list. (Beth Revis & Cynthia Hand) I’m so eager to see what they come up with next!
Shirley Marr is an author I need to check out. What is your favorite book of hers?

Shirley has written two books, Fury, which I don’t own and would like to, and Preloved, which I do own. Out of the two of them, I like Fury better because it is a Mean Girls story and I love mean girls, whereas Preloved is a paranormal romance. Kind of. I don’t normally aim to read romances, though there have been some wonderful ones I’ve read.

I’m picky about where my money goes and although I have a bunch of authors I really like, I now pick and chose which authors I buy immediately. I haven’t read any of the authors listed, but am checking them out.

For me, it’s not so much as being picky to where it goes (I would pay way in advance for some of these authors) but just absolute faith that I know I’d like anything they’d write. I’m picky because I am addicted to book highs and hate reading shitty books. i also have particular taste and high standards. So that helps narrow it down quite a bit ha ha!
