This week’s topic:

What books, if any, have you read only because a blogger’s review convinced you to? Did it live up?

My good friend Kelly reviewed The Fault in Our Stars back in 2012, but I only didn’t pay much attention because I’m not really that interested in reading John Green’s books. No, that is not me committing Internet suicide – they simply don’t appeal to me. When The Fault in Our Stars was being pushed onto us reviewers via a mega media campaign, I simply thought ‘meh’. Not interested. However, by the time a year had passed and Penguin Australia were releasing it on Netgalley to Aussie reviewers, I started reading spoiler-filled reviews to see if I actually wanted to read it, Kelly’s review made me decide to read it.

It wasn’t as amazing to me as everyone else made it out to be.

I can always rely on my friend Ashleigh Paige to wade through the mess of books and pull out the ones I will truly cherish – like Entwined by Heather Dixon. Ashleigh Paige’s review of Imaginary Girls convinced me to read it, and it was every bit as good as I thought it would be.
