This week’s topic:
Who are your all-time favourite literary bad boys?
I’ll be honest: I don’t like bad boys. Yeah, I know, I’m totally a square. I like nice boys. I like boys who are responsible, and think of other people, have empathy, and above all, respect their partners. Boys like Sam from the Wolves of Mercy Falls. I’m not into bad boys like Patch ‘Rapey’ Cipriano from Hush, Hush, or Christian Grey and his 50 Shades of I’m a Motherfucking Asshole Because Reasons. I don’t find them sexy or romantic at all.
However there is one exception, and I’ll tell you why he’s an exception.
Did you ever watch Buffy: The Vampire Slayer? If you answered ‘no’, that’s OK. Just get watching it. what the hell is wrong with you?
Spike was a vampiric bad ass mother fucker introduced to be Season 2’s villain. He was ruthless, bloodthirsty, and just a little dumb, although he was madly in love with slightly insane vamp Drusilla. Throughout the series he falls in love with Buffy and after much fucking up (because he’s a bad boy) then decides to become a better man for her. He gets a soul and in season 7 he’s firmly on the side of good – although he still retains his sarcasm and fearlessness, and everything else that makes him Spike.
Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost is like Spike from Season 7 of Buffy – complete with the platinum white hair and English accent.
Bones is also a bad ass mother fucker, deadly, passionate, and utterly devoted to his girl, Cat. I love Bones. I think his loyalty is sexy. I think his refusal to be driven away is admirable. I think his fighting skills are breathtaking. I love his sarcasm and his attitude.
The Night Huntress series is one of the very few vampire books (and adult books) I actually enjoy reading. I love Spike because he is a reformed bad guy, and I have a major weakness for those guys. I love Bones because I’m pretty sure he’s based on Good Guy Spike.

Oh yes haha you can’t go wrong with Spike! I don’t like the bad boys in real life, but there’s something about them in literature that just ooze sexy! Love it. Thanks so much for linking up this week! 🙂

I see your point of view, but I still find nice boys sexy in literature 😛

Spike all the way! I haven’t read The Night Huntress series, but maybe I ought to.

If you’re a fan of Spike, you’ll like the Night Huntress series. And that comes from someone who doesn’t particularly like vampires!
