Day 12: A book you used to love but don’t anymore

Animorphs book #4: The Message

When I was a child and reading the Animorphs for the first time, The Message was one of my favourites. Upon re-reading, I’ve come to realise it really isn’t as wonderful as I thought it was. Most of it has to do with the psychic whale. In all the other books the wild animals behave like animals, but in this, the psychic whale helps the Animorphs with the location of the trapped alien and then gathers different species together to fight off the alien invader. I can no longer suspend my disbelief when it comes to this novel and I’m no longer wearing rose tinted glasses.

Which is a shame, because up to a certain age this was my favourite of the Animorphs books. I re-read it dozens and dozens of times. I could quote whole passages.
