Welcome to the Moonlight Library’s 30 Day Animorphs Challenge!
Despite Project Animorphs in 2013, I clearly do not talk about Animorphs enough.
This particular challenge is taken from the Heck Yeah Tumblr Challenges archive on Tumblr.

Day 22: An unpopular opinion you have about the series

The Invasion Front Cover.jpgMy unpopular opinion is that I liked the ending.

The series ended when I was 14 or 15. I wasn’t buying very many other books. My pocket money went to the Animorphs series. Rachel was my idol. I cried.

But it was a good ending. It shows how people never really recover from war. It shows how people seek outAnimorphs bk54.jpg conflict. It showed how Marco’s life was empty despite his fame and fortune, that Jake’s life was meaningless even though he was a teacher, that Tobias was broken almost beyond repair. The only one unbroken was Cassie, and she would have felt the weight of the world on her shoulders being the final survivor.

And that nasty cliffhanger, the worst of the worst cliffhangers ever… well, that prepared me to be able to handle any shitty ending in literature ever henceforth. I can deal with cliffhangers. I can read Book 1 of a series and never continue. I can cope with my favourite characters brutally murdered or senselessly dying.

Animorphs prepared me for other literature. And it was primarily aimed at the youth market.

That’s why I like that brutal, unforgiving ending.
