Despite Project Animorphs in 2013, I clearly do not talk about Animorphs enough.

Day 29: Your favourite alien species

My favourite alien species is the Ketrans, from the Ellimist Chronicles. Toomin’s original body was Ketran. I think their society is one of the best developed and their world is one of the best built and most imaginative in the entire series. The Hork-Bajir come a pretty close second, if only because they are walking vegetarian razor blades, but there’s something about the Ketrans and where they are technologically in their story that I think makes it easier to identify with – the first tentative steps of space exploration when it’s within our own parents lifetime that man first walked on the moon.

I just think it’s so well done, and even though we never got to see official artwork of a Ketran, I also love that they are a flying race and see the world intrinsically in three-dimensions. I love variety in alien races and I think they’re the most diverse and interesting.
