A Monster Calls Teaser Trailer

a monster callsA Monster Calls is a Middle Grade contemporary/low fantasy written by Patrick Ness, based on an idea by Siobhan Dowd who unfortunately passed away before seeing her vision come to life, and illustrated by Jim Kay, who is the mastermind behind the illustrations in the new illustrated Harry Potter hardcover collectors editions. Ness and Kay won the Carnegie Medal and the Newberry Medal in 2012 for it.

I first read A Monster Calls this year thanks to Walker Books, and it completely destroyed me.

Briefly, it’s about a teenager coming to terms with his mother’s cancer through the use of this ‘monster’ – voiced by Liam Neesan. I can’t think of anyone better, especially after hearing his voice in this teaser.

A Monster Calls is scheduled for release in October 2016.
