Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To For The First Half Of 2017
Windwitch (The Witchlands #2) by Susan Dennard
I read and quite enjoyed Truthwitch, although I’m still struggling to see the nation-wide value in someone who can tell when others are lying but is capable of lying herself. I would have liked it much more if it were more Lucifer-based, that people can’t help but tell you their truths and deepest, darkest secrets.
Breath of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #2) by Amanda Bouchet
I just need to spend more time with this sexy gang of barbarian warriors.
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
I don’t know what to say about this. If it’s based on a Russian fairytale then oh god yes! If it’s original but set in Russia then oh god yes even more! It just sounds all kinds of amazing – a rebellious stepdaughter needs to keep the traditions alive that her new stepmother doesn’t believe in or tragedies will occur! I think this sounds really cool.
Poison’s Kiss by Breeana Shields
Bonus points for being of Indian folklore. A teenage assassin who can kill by kissing? This is the novel I have wanted since I was twelve and Silverbolt fell in love with Blackarachnia in Transformers: Beast Wars:
Silverbolt: “I guess you don’t know whether to kiss me or kill me.”
Black Arachnia: “I’m a black widow spider, you idiot! I can do both.”
RoseBlood by AG Howard
A new take on Phantom of the Opera? YES PLEASE.
Dawn Study (Soulfinders #3) by Maria V Snyder
The last book in Yelena and Valek’s story. MY NEED IS GREAT.
Beautiful Broken Girls by Kim Savage
Kim Savage wrote the wonderful After The Woods and I need this troy about sisters and more mystery and thrills and I just need it OK?
So a necromancer learns to weild elemental magic and that is just ALL UP MY ALLEY and I NEED THIS BOOK SO BAD.
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
Midnight Jewel (The Glittering Court #2) by Richelle Mead
I really like Richelle Mead’s writing, she always absorbs me and I quite liked her take on this frontier-inspired kinda pseudo-historical-kinda-not-thing she’s got going on and I want to read the rest of the series to find out whatt he other girls were up to while Adelaide was off on her adventures.
Avenged (Ruined #2) by Amy Tintera
Because Ruined gave me life and ruined me for other fantasies, and now I need its sequel.
