Top Ten YA Books To Lend Your Mama

When your mum asks to read books from your YA collection, which ones can you safely give her?

  • Must be a Clean Read (ie no sex because parents don’t have sex, everyone knows that);
  • the worldbuilding cannot be overly complicated (because she has a hard enough time remembering how to work the blu-ray player); and
  • it has to be original enough that she can remember at least the main character’s name (otherwise how else will you be able to discuss it with her?)

My picks from my personal collection are:

  1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
  2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling
  3. Preloved by Shirley Marr
  4. Inside Out/Outside In by Maria V Snyder
  5. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  6. Divergent by Veronica Roth
  7. Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
  8. Sabriel by Garth Nix
  9. Storm Siren by Mary Weber
  10. Entwined by Heather Dixon
