Top Ten Books I Want My Future Children to Read

Black Beauty, The Animals of Farthing Wood and The Silver Brumby

These three books are my go-to to teach kids about empathy and kindness to animals. I’m going to read them to my future children when they are very small, so basically they’re going to get these stories whether they want to or not. The only question is, how old do I have to let them get before I read them, considering all of the horrible deaths in each book?

Sabriel and Tomorrow When the War Began

Australian classics, these will be on my bookshelf forever and when my kids are old enough I’ll be transferring them to their bookshelf.

Twilight, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games

By the time I have kids these will be classics, and I want my kids to read and understand the hype of these books when I was a teenager. I’m already collecting the illustrated editions of Harry Potter to read to my kids when they’re small, and I just have to wait until they’re tweens to gie them Twilight and The Hunger Games.

Wuthering Heights

I read this when I was 17 so I’m willing to wait until my kid shows and interest, but it’ll always be a part of my collection and I hope they’ll want to read it too one day.

Animorphs

I lived this series when I was a tween and teen and I hope my love of animals and sci-fi will extend to them when they’re old enough. I have the entire series so they’ll not miss out on anything.

I’ve been trying to get my boy to read Harry Potter books but he’s not into fiction, unfortunately. He loves NatGeo type of reads so he soaks up the facts. I guess I should be thankful he loves to read period.

Anyway, I hope you won’t have a hard time getting your kids into these books!

    Thanks for sharing!
