Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.
It’s all about sharing the books we’ve picked up for the week, whether they are bought, borrowed, gifted, galleys, physical or virtual.

Thanks to Balzar + Bray on Edelweiss for approving my request to review these two!
Dread Nation by Justina Ireland.
I know this one is getting major hype at the moment, and the last thing I want to do is read the same books everyone else is reading, but I’m so drawn to this alternate history with a mixed race protagonist trained to fight zombies. It sounded like a similar concept to Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy, to be honest, where a mixed race girl went to a school to train and fight evil vampires.
The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross
So I think princess and royal magic fantasy books are getting to a point where they are saturating the market, and I’ve had to become picky with what I want to read even though it’s my favourite concept in the whole world. The reason I wanted to read this one is because it talks about patrons and learning an art/skill that evokes historical Italy and ancient Greece for me. I studied both time periods at university so I’m keen to see what this mix and mash has in store. Also, magical royalty. Come on. This is me.
