A blogger called Lia from Lost in a Story created a kind of meme thingy called Down the TBR Hole that aims to cut your TBR pile of the books you no longer want to read and remind yourself of the ones you do want to read.
The process:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5-10 (or more if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Culling the TBR Pile This Week:
Torn by Cat Clarke.
It just doesn’t excite me, I had a glance through my friends’ reviews and they were all kind of meh, this one’s gone.
Renegade by J.A. Souders
This one also doesn’t excite me. I read some reviews that mentioned some inconsistencies with the worldbuilding I think I would have a massive problem with. This one is going.
Flame (Sky Chasers #3)
I’m culling this one purely because it the third book in a trilogy of which I have only read the first and own the second. If, when I read the second, I enjoy it and wish to continue, I will find this book and read it. In the meantime, it’s getting cut from my to-reads pile because I need to cut sequels.
The Neptune Project by Polly Holyoke
I went through a phase where I wanted to read a lot of underwater/mermaid books and I think I’m over that, now. Although this still odes sound like a fairly cool book reading the blurb, I have to be strong about my cull and to be honest, I think the protagonist is a little young for me (12/13). This is getting culled.
When Women Were Warriors by Catherine M WIlson
I don’t remember adding this, it seems totally foreign to me, but I think I did it because I heard there is a distinct absence of male characters in this book and that almost every role is female. I understand why I would have wanted to read it five years ago, but since I can’t easily find a copy to borrow and my only choice is to buy a physical copy, I’m going to pass on this one because it doesn’t excite me any more. This one is getting culled.
