Culling the TBR Pile 9

A blogger called Lia from Lost in a Story created a kind of meme thingy called Down the TBR Hole that aims to cut your TBR pile of the books you no longer want to read and remind yourself of the ones you do want to read.

The process:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5-10 (or more if youre feeling adventurous) books.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Culling the TBR Pile This Week:

Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood by Eileen Cook

I still really like revenge stories, but after reading some reviews that painted Lauren as an irredeemable bad guy and Helen/Claire as funny but unlikeable, plus a unsatisfactory HEA ending, and the fact that this is not available at my library, I’m culling this.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

I did initially add this book because I really liked Imaginary Girls, but to be truthful I’ve never really been excited to read this one and was only doing it out of author loyalty. I’m culling this.

Starbreak (Starglass #2) by Phoebe North

While I do still think I want to read this, my rule is to cull any sequel whose first book I have not read yet. Although I own Starglass, I haven’t read it yet, so this one is getting culled.

Silent Harmony by Michele Scott

While an empath horsewoman solving a murder mystery sounds vaguely interesting to me, it doesn’t sound interesting enough. Sorry, horsey-book, you’re getting culled.

How Not to Find a Boyfriend by Allyson Valentine

I still really like the sound of this, a queen of the nerds dumbing herself down to become popular, but then gets stuck trying to convince the new boy she’s not an airhead. I think it still sounds adorable and cute and I do still want to read it, but it’s not available on The Book Depository and the Kindle version is more expensive than a paperback. This one is going.

What do you think? Should I have kept any books? Have you read any, and what did you think of them? Let me know in the comments!
