My twist on this is the marketing concept where you claim a book is ‘something meets something’ even though every fantasy book nowadays is Game of Thrones meets something… bah!
1 and 2
Sabriel meets Avatar: The Last Airbender
Magic and elements and fierce women fighting the undead!
3 and 4
The Hunger Games meets Throne of Glass
Don’t you think it would be awesome if ‘the world’s best assassin’ actually did kill people? And wasn’t such a freaking Mary Sue (because Katniss is, by definition, not a Mary Sue, unlike Celaena)?!
5 and 6
Poison Study meets Adorkable
A student learning the art of poison but is really clumsy and accidentally poisons people!
7 and 8
Harry Potter meets Grave Mercy
A boarding school to train assassin nuns!
9 and 10
Twilight meets Game of Thrones
I wanted to pick the two most ‘this meets that’ books in the past ten years. I can’t think of two books that are more different, but I think it could be really cool, like a pseudo-medieval version of the final battle in the Breaking Dawn Part 2 film, but without so much action maybe.
