OK, so obviously I don’t want to spoil much, but Entwined by Heather Dixon is one of the best YA books I’ve ever read.
It’s a retelling of 12 Dancing Princesses and it’s just absolutely amazing. It’s so good that I had the most incredible book high for several months after I read it, the longest book high I’ve ever had – which probably stemmed from the happy ending, since I mostly really enjoy books that rip your heart out and stomp all over it.
Dixon works in animation, so she’s super talented at using sound effects in her writing – which sounds REALLY weird but it works, I promise! She juggles eleven sisters perfectly, and each one is well-rounded and easily defined. The descriptions of dancing were glorious.
I don’t have a review because I read it before I started this blog.
