Culling the TBR Pile 16

A blogger called Lia from Lost in a Story created a kind of meme thingy called Down the TBR Hole that aims to cut your TBR pile of the books you no longer want to read and remind yourself of the ones you do want to read.

The process:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5-10 (or more if youre feeling adventurous) books.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Culling the TBR Pile This Week:

Persephone (Daughters of Zeus, #1)

Peresphone by Kaitlyn Bevis

No, no, no. This actually sounds terrible. I originally added it because a friend of mine (who died and whose account was going to be deleted) had it on HER TBR, and I had this plan that I was going to read all of the books she never got to before she died, but I’m sorry, KJ, I just can’t do it. This one is getting culled.

The Complete History of Why I Hate Her

The Complete History of Why I Hate Her by Jennifer Richard Jacobsen

OK, confession time: I originally added this because it reminded me of my high school best friend with whom I had a falling out with. I wanted to see how this fictional character dealt with a competitive copycat. But I no longer want to be reminded of that, so this one is getting culled.

The Hallowed Ones (The Hallowed Ones, #1)

The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle

Amish vampire apocalypse dystopian. I don’t have the heart to cull this, and most of my friends have given it 5 stars, so I’m going to keep it.

Awake (A Fairytale Trilogy #1)

Awake by Jessica Grey

I’m not sure why I added this. I think I was going through a fairytale retelling phase (well let’s be honest,t hat phase is never ending). This one is getting culled.

Crown of Ice (The Mirror of Immortality, #1)

Crown of Ice by Vicki L Weavil

So post-Frozen I was probably very interested in an original take on The Snow Queen, but my friends who have read this have given it very poor ratings and I don’t want to waste my time (that cover though!). This one is getting culled.

VERDICT

Removed: 4

Kept: 1

What do you think? Should I have kept any books? Have you read any, and what did you think of them? Let me know in the comments!
