Culling the TBR Pile 18

A blogger called Lia from Lost in a Story created a kind of meme thingy called Down the TBR Hole that aims to cut your TBR pile of the books you no longer want to read and remind yourself of the ones you do want to read.

The process:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5-10 (or more if youre feeling adventurous) books.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Culling the TBR Pile This Week:

The Ring and the Crown (The Ring and the Crown, #1)

The Ring and the Crown by Melissa De La Cruz

Um… yeah this sounds like awesome trashy romance which is awesome and I still really want to read it. This one stays.

Catherine

Catherine by April Lindner

Although this is a modern Wuthering Heights retelling, after re-reading the blurb I have no desire to read this. This one is getting culled.

Illyria

Illyria by Elizabeth Hand

While first cousins and lovers is a mix that makes me want to retch, I do still want to read this Twelfth-Night-influenced book if only because I love the play and I want to see how this book handles it – and apparently it’s short, so that’s good. This one stays.

Princesses Don't Fight in Skirts

Princesses Don’t Fight in Skirts by Aya Ling

Although I’ve enjoyed a different book by Aya Ling and that was the reason I added this one, the idea of reading this one no longer sparks joy, so using the KonMari method, I am culling it.

Toads and Diamonds

Toads and Diamonds by Heather Tomlinson

Although I do really like the original fable this is based on, I no longer wish to read this book due to less than stellar reviews from my friends which mention that although there is nothing particularly wrong with this book, it’s just not outstanding, and I’m seeking euphoria. This one is getting culled.

What do you think? Should I have kept any books? Have you read any, and what did you think of them? Let me know in the comments!
