Top Ten Film Adaptations That Are Better Than Their Books

Here’s a thing you might not know about me: I studied, at a University level, book-to-film adaptations. I have a degree in that mofo. Not only that, I have an Honours degree in that mofo, so you can trust me that when I tell you ‘the book is not always better than the film’ you can trust me that I’m telling you the truth.

That said, please note that this list does not necessarily mean that I thought the books were bad! Some of the books were really, really good: the films were just better, cutting down on unnecessary elements, introducing elements to make the film ( a completely different medium) better, rearranging the order of scenes.

I guess the trick here is to figure out whether or not I liked the book!

  1. Legally Blonde
  2. Coraline
  3. Lord of the Rings – the whole trilogy
  4. Silence of the Lambs
  5. Everything, Everything
  6. Eclipse (#3 Twilight Saga)
  7. The Longest Ride
  8. Atonement
  9. Insurgent (#2 Divergent series)
  10. Sex and the City
