November/December 2019 Wrap Up

News

I know, I totally forgot to do a wrap up for November, but I had a reason!

First I had a really big personal event coming up that I was focusing on, and that went really well!

Secondly, I had to take a trip for my work in early December, and that was a Very Big Deal.

I’ve never travelled for work before, and I had to fly to another city, which I was extremely anxious about (yes, I did live overseas for two years, but you really can’t predict or explain some anxieties). But I talked about it with my boss and he was super great about everything, and I went to this work event interstate, and I actually had a smashingly great time! I got to meet loads of amazing people, including my new grand-boss, and everyone was SO EXCITED to meet me, and even my great-grand-boss was ecstatically happy that I had come!

Literally everyone I spoke to thought I was really interesting, which doesn’t really happen to me very much because I think I’m comfortably boring! But apparently I’m not? WHO KNEW?

Finally, I have rearranged my bookshelves.

You may be aware that I have a library room, which used to host most of my YA and all of my adult audience books. I also have a single bookcase out in my living room which previously hosted all of my unsolicited paperback ARCS and select YA books I was planning on reading.

This arrangement started to make me feel a bit odd since my YA books were split over two rooms.
I recently rearranged my bookcases so that the books in the library room are all YA (alphabetical order, of course), and I moved all of my adult audience books out into my living room.

However, this leaves me in somewhat of a conundrum. I now feel that my adult audience books are giving a false idea of what I actually enjoy reading (YA), which feels slightly dishonest. However, my library room now feels almost complete with all of my YA on the shelves and not split up over two rooms. (I mean, I still have a ton of read books packed away in my storage room…)

The library room is almost complete because next month we are expecting delivery of two wonderful hand-picked reading chairs to snuggle and read and enjoy the room the way we’re intending it.

I’m never happy with how my bookshelves are arranged, either. (Aside from them also being in alphabetical order.) So reading about your fretting was very entertaining to me because I relate!

And congrats on the work trip! I’m glad everything went so well.

    Happy New Year, Nemo!

Happy New Year to you too, my friend! Glad to find someone else who frets about inconsequential things like I do 🙂
