Destination Anywhere

Destination Anywhere by Sara Barnard

Sometimes you have to leave your life behind to find your place in the world.

After five years at secondary school spent without any friends, Peyton King starts sixth form college determined that things will be different. Whatever happens, she will make friends at any cost.

When she finds the friends she’s always dreamed of, including an actual boyfriend, she’s happier than she’s ever been.

But when they let her down in the worst way, Peyton is left no better off than when she started.

Now Peyton knows the only chance she has of finding happiness is to look for it somewhere else. Her life may feel small, but it doesn’t have to be. With nothing but her sketchpad and a backpack, she buys a one-way ticket and gets on a plane. . .

Honestly, this sounds a little too NA for my particular taste, however, Sara Barnard is one of my favourite authors whom I gladly offer up my heart on a silver platter in the hopes she will tear it apart mercilessly with her bare hands…

Phantom Heart (Phantom Heart, #1)

Phantom Heart by Kelly Creagh

Seventeen-year-old Stephanie Armand doesn’t believe in ghosts or spirits. Despite her six-year-old sister, Charlie, insisting a masked figure is hiding in her closet, and the rumors at school, Stephanie isn’t convinced her father’s latest renovation project–a crumbling Victorian mansion–houses the soul of a monster.

So when the very charming (and paranormal obsessed) Lucas Cheney takes an interest in both Stephanie and her notorious home, the supernatural and romantic activity escalates to an all-time high. And that doesn’t even take into account the dashing, British-accented eighteen-year-old boy, Erik, who’s taken up residence in Stephanie’s nightly dreams. A boy who may have something to do with the man in the mask, and the strange occurrences taking place at Moldavia.

A steamy YA romance with Twilight vibes, inspired by Gaston Leroux’s classic The Phantom of the Opera

I’ve read one book by Kelly Creagh and have the rest of her trilogy on my to-read shelves (I always have the best on intentions!) but I do remember thinking she had really solid writing, so I’m excited to hear her take on Phantom de le Opera! I borrowed this audiobook from my local library.

What books did you get this week? Have you read any of these and what did you think? Share the love in the comments below!

i have read and loved out of this world previous books by both authors, so I’m not going in blind, and I can really recommend them.
