 Spring Reads

Today I’m sharing 3 Aussie Young Adult books I think make for awesome reading during springtime!

First and foremost is my favourite springtime book, The Silver Brumby by Elyne MItchell. I think it’s perfect for springtime because that’s when brumby foals are born! It follows the life of the mysterious silver brumby Thowra from birth to claiming his place as King of the Cascade brumbies, and I’ve been reading it almost every spring since I was a child.

Vanessa Garden’s Captivate is perfect for springtime because it’s set in a beautiful underwater city. Springtime banishes the chill of winter and welcomes the heat of summer and every Aussie knows summer = beach time! (or pool time, depending on where you live.)

The Things I Didn’t Say by Kylie Fornasier isn’t set just in springtime, it follows over a broader school year, but it’s a sweet love story about a girl who struggles to use her voice and a boy trying to tread his own path. The power of growing up and new experiences, and great to read on a spring day that’s sunny outside or raining, pick your choice!
