Welcome to the Moonlight Library’s 30 Day Animorphs Challenge!
Despite Project Animorphs in 2013, I clearly do not talk about Animorphs enough.
This particular challenge is taken from the Heck Yeah Tumblr Challenges archive on Tumblr.

Day 8: TV series, love or hate? Why?

I LOVED the TV show.

I was thirteen when it aired in Australia and I had the biggest crushes on Shawn Ashmore and Christopher Ralph (not really into short guys, sorry Boris!).

Don’t get me wrong, it was a TERRIBLE show. But it was ANIMORPHS. I dreamed about those books!

I didn’t like how they rewrote Rachel to be a vegetarian gymnastics captain because the only thing they retained from her was her fearlessness (“Let’s do it!”) and her thing with Tobias. I didn’t like how the morphing technology was so expensive so they could only afford like one morph per episode. I didn’t like how it was mostly humans (Visser Three in human morph ALL THE TIME, no Taxxons and minimal Hork-Bajir).

It was frustrating how they had to be careful which animals were on the show, too, which meant Rachel’s battle morph was a lion instead of a bear. Marco never morphed a gorilla. There were so many things the TV show couldn’t do so it couldn’t stay loyal to the books. They hardly ever morphed so it more like a TV show about kids fighting an alien invasion (which is the basic premise of the books but MORPHING! ALIENS!)

And seriously, those Dracon beams were just torches. And the Controllers all looked like they were Russian refugees.

I did like some of the artistic licenses they took such as Rachel’s amnesia and Cassie morphing the crocodile (which seemed really itty bitty. Not scary at all!). There was an episode filmed before Megamorphs #4 Back to Before where Jake wished it never happened and they moved into an alternate world where they were never Animorphs… I don’t remember it so great but it was a good episode.

But still, I was thirteen and a fangirl.
