Buy Borrow Burn (17)

Welcome to Young Adult At Heart’s original feature Buy Borrow Burn.
It’s a fun game based on Snog Marry Avoid/Marry Kiss Kill.
If we had unlimited funds, which cover would be the one we’d buy*, borrow, or burn**?
*This is completely subjective and my favourite cover may not be yours.
**In no way do we wish to insult anyone and no, we wouldn’t actually ‘burn’ the book, this is completely hypothetical.

Let me know which book cover you’d Buy Borrow or Burn!

This week’s book covers:

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Buy

13335038

HarperCollins 2011

I love the use of silhouette and the colour scheme. The teaser is nicely balanced and I like the font choices. I especially like how the city is faded in the background. Overall I think it’s a lovely cover and I’d be proud to display this in my home.

Borrow

17970762

Bosnian 2013

This cover is so badass, I love the flaming symbol, the fiery sky and the use of the cityscape. It’s really cool and I’d probably pick this up at the library to investigate.

Burn

26115465

Japanese 2014

Nothing says ‘young adult female lead’ like a hot buff young guy covered with tatts on the cover. Looks more like a story about some underground boxing champ struggling against the odds rather than a dystopian.

Honourable mention:

23275109

2014 HarperCollins film tie-in edition

Sure, promote a female-lead story with the love interest getting the front and centre spot while our girl lead shows off her butt and boob. I know what they’re trying to do, trying to appeal to a male audience as well by showing it’s not all about the girl but uh, sorry, IT KINDA IS. Why can’t tris have the crouching position and hold a weapon like a badass and Four can have the awkward ‘I gotcha back’ pose showing off his butt?

Which out of these three covers would you buy, borrow, or burn?
