Welcome to the Moonlight Library’s new original feature, Buy Borrow Burn.
It’s a fun game based on Snog Marry Avoid/Marry Kiss Kill.
If we had unlimited funds, which cover would be the one we’d buy*, borrow, or burn**?
*This is completely subjective and my favourite cover may not be yours.
**In no way do we wish to insult anyone and no, we wouldn’t actually ‘burn’ the book, this is completely hypothetical.
Let me know which book cover you’d Buy Borrow or Burn!
This week’s book covers:
Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3)
by Suzanne Collins
Buy
Scholastic 2012 Special Edition
I love all things white and pale blue and sparkly, which is actually the main reason behind my Frozen collection, not that it’s Frozen, or Elsa, or Disney, but because it’s the colours of an icey landscape. So I totally covet this cover!
Borrow
Scholastic 2014 Movie Tie-In
I love the flames and the black background, it’s just so intense. I wouldn’t be embarrassed at all if anyone saw me reading the book with this cover.
Burn
Scholastic 2010 Paperback
Besides the Stephenie Meyer blurb on the cover? (No, I’m kidding, I actually have no problem with S Meyer and think she’s a very classy lady who has put up with a lot of crap from sharing her own fantasies.)
I just hate the composition. I have the mix or red and orange, I find it really clashing. I have the text used. I hate the big fat HG symbol on top of the feather and its special aura effect, especially since it already says above Mockingjay that it’s The Hunger Games. I just generally dislike everything about this cover.
BONUS BURNS
This is the Swedish cover and I actually really like it. I like the starkness of the title ‘Revolt’ and the purple smoke. I can’t really figure out what it’s supposed to represent but I like purple so I like this cover.
This Arabic version just makes me want to shake the lethargic-looking Katniss by the shoulders. “You’re meant to be leading a revolution!” I’d yell. “Wake me up when the war’s over,” she’d mumble, and fall back asleep.
NOTE: I’m not sure if this is a real cover because it’s got a website edited into the image.
This Thai version seems very Cold War Russian. I guess it’s a great example of a dystopian cover, but it just seems too real.
Which out of these covers would you buy, borrow, or burn?
